Only 28 of these stave churches now remain, and you’ll see two of them, including in Borgund, where you’ll admire one of Norway’s best-preserved stave churches dating back to 1180. Stay two nights in Bergen, founded in 1070. Here, visit Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with foundations dating to the 12th century.
